Teachers TV 2008

Teachers TV has unveiled its schedule for the second half of Spring Term with a raft of new commissions including Antarctica: Sub Zero Teachers, the story of four teachers and their groundbreaking expedition to the Antarctic, and documentaries that investigate the most difficult issues for teachers today, such as The Cutting Club which looks to dispel the myths about self-harming.

Jonathan Dimbleby will be chairing a new Big Debate, in which the panel will be discussing Academies (transmission date TBC). As with previous terms, the schedule is organised around themed weeks which bring together insightful and innovative programming, supported by specific high-quality CPD resources.

The channel marks International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March by broadcasting Missing Women and Women of the Holy Kingdom, which highlight the issue of infanticide in Asia and the real experiences of Saudi women respectively.

National Science and Engineering Week is celebrated with a week of programming from Monday 3 March, including Ready to Learn? – The Science Behind the Experiment which looks at the national schools scientific experiment taking place the following week (10-14 March), and the documentary Amazing Minds, which profiles the European Union’s Young Scientific and Inventors competition.

To make it even easier for teachers to watch Teachers TV, the channel is available on Freeview every day from 4.00-5.00pm. Following first broadcast, the majority of programmes are also available to view or download for free from www.teachers.tv where you can also find supporting resources and access the entire video library of over 2,000 programmes.
