This message was recently posted on one of the ICT pages on Teaching Ideas and I thought that it might be useful to share…
“From April 2008, Futurelab started a programme of work – supported by Becta – to contribute to the ‘Harnessing Technology: Next Generation Learning 2008-14′ strategy launched in July 2008. This strategy aims to bring about a step-change in the way technology is used across the education and skills system, enabling learners to take greater control of their learning.
Three free scenario posters are now available which provide a starting point for considering the potential benefits and challenges of using computer games in schools to support education, using technologies to support learning in families, and using technology to support adult informal learning.
These scenario posters have been developed to illustrate the challenges that learners may face around this issue learning in families along with some of the multitude of ways in which technologies can be used for support. These scenarios point to the many diverse opportunities that technologies can provide to enhance and transform learning, as well as some of the issues and difficulties that need to be considered when we seek to use technology to support learning in families.
The scenarios were developed from an extensive research study including a national survey of parents, online focus groups and analysis of research literature.
To order free large colour copies of the posters, illustrating all six scenarios for each project, please visit our online order form at http://forms.futurelab.org.uk/subscribe/ (UK residents only).
After browsing around the Futurelab site, I’ve just discovered lots of other free downloadable resources… including a downloadable book. Take a look!
