Some fun

I’ve come across an excellent blog with visual illusions and pictures that are just begging to be discussed in school with children. Some of them would make excellent examples for discussion in P4C. Others are just there because they are. For instance have a look at this paper artwork made out of everyday coloured paper! [...]

CBBC – Do something different

‘Do Something Different‘ is the opportunity for every primary school aged child across Britain to get involved in association with Children’s BBC. Sam and Mark are especially looking for schools, after school clubs and holiday clubs to get involved and hope that they will visit the web site where they can find how group and [...]

2 year old joke is now a satellite photo

This is nothing to do with primary schools, but still really funny.  Taken from the Guardian: Two pupils who drew a giant penis on a school lawn using weed killer two years ago can still admire their work from satellite photos now posted on the internet.  Despite the school re-seeding the area, the penis has [...]

My children love using the Lego at wet playtimes (and we’ve had plenty of them recently) but I’ve yet to see them come up with anything quite like this automated Lego car builder built entirely out of Lego bricks! I’m not sure which is best, the above or the Lego car that parallel parks itself!

Just a quick one…

Camping was great, if very wet – cycled 16 miles in pouring rain – before deciding that the weather wasn’t going to clear!  The pub meal at the end was worth it though!  As I’ve not been back long I’ve got a load to do for HMI on Tuesday and Wednesday so won’t be posting [...]

Armadillo Run

I’ve come across this great game to help teach forces and properties of materials! Well I like to think so anyway! Armadillo Run is a physics-based puzzle game. You get to build structures with the aim of getting an armadillo to a blue sphere.  You can use a variety of building materials, each with different [...]

Time wasters…

Still time for some mindless fun before we all start to think about the dreaded ‘P’ word. Here are a few sites that you may enjoy. Jackson Pollock by Miltos Mantas – Here’s a place where you can indulge your inner abstract expressionist: move your mouse to splatter virtual paint and click to change the [...]

Keep the grey matter active…

Games for the Brain – one of the links to come out of this week’s CLICK programme. Good for keeping the grey matter ticking over during the holidays and a site that I will definitely use with the children
