Purpos/ed has been developed by a group of people involved in education. Their aim is to kickstart a debate around the question: What’s the purpose of education? The site has started the debate by encouraging people to write 500 words about the purpose of education on their own blogs. Lots of people have already contributed their thoughts and you can browse through their articles here.

Why not write a post about this yourself? You can also subscribe to the weekly newsletter and follow Purpos/ed on Twitter.

Y Touring Theatre Company seeks to provoke debate and discussion for its audiences, through live performances, podcasts and online resources, on ethical, social and moral dilemmas on a range of subjects. It is part of the Central YMCA and sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, so is able to make its services entirely free to schools, teachers and pupils.

They currently have a podcast of their theatre production Starfish, plus supporting education resources, which are all available online. Starfish has already successfully toured secondary schools up and down the country and received excellent feedback from teachers and pupils alike, and a second production of the play and debate is now out on the road.

To give Starfish a wider reach, they have recorded the production and released it as a downloadable ‘podcast’, available on our Theatre of Debate website.
