The entire catalogue of 3500 Teachers TV videos was sadly taken offline recently as Teachers TV came to an end. However, the people who worked there have formed a new company called Teachers Media and they now have all of the videos back online. The site is still very new and they have lots of plans for future developments.

It’s great to see that these valuable resources are now back online. So, visit them at Teachers Media and view the videos there!

Estyn, the education and training inspectorate for Wales, has recently published a series of films for teachers showing best practice in the classroom. The videos share tried and tested ways of raising standards with all educational professionals. Each film looks at a different area of success within a provider and they feature interviews with staff, learners and parents. View the videos here.

In related news, Teachers TV (who had had over 3,500 professional development videos on their site) closed recently. However, the people who ran Teachers TV have formed a new organisation called Teachers Media. The new site aims to have the full archive of 3,500 Teachers TV videos online over the next few weeks.

Teachers TV have made a number of announcements about new projects and resources recently:

To register an interest, sign-up to the debate and put questions to the panel in advance of the discussion, go to www.teachers.tv/big-debate-live.

The videos are also accompanied by curriculum-based lesson plans, covering Key Stage 1 to 4.

The programme is a useful resource for teachers wanting to capture the imagination of their pupils and bring them back to books.

School Matters: Teenage Love and Relationships - South London teenagers together with PSHE consultants and teachers discuss the ups and downs of relationships, and the role schools can play in helping pupils prepare emotionally and practically for these powerful experiences.

Changes to the fruit are then recorded over the following weeks – covering the APP criteria for Observing and Measuring over time. The Big Stink recreates the challenges facing the Victorians and their sewage system – introducing a practical science investigation helping teachers to use the APP criteria for Gathering Evidence.

Secondary Singing with Howard Goodall - After the hugely successful Sing-Up project in primary schools, this programme aims to give music teachers and senior management in secondary schools both the inspiration and know-how to get their pupils singing.

It has also been announced recently that the government has ‘pulled the plug’ on Teachers TV, so its future is currently uncertain. I’ve used many of the Teachers TV resources myself, so I hope that the sites and its resource stay online… have you used Teachers TV? How do you feel about this news?
